Weaning Down the Travel Wardrobe

So . . . . Today I tried on every combination of outfits trying to wean things down. I got rid of a couple things, but I still need to edit a bit further! I am struggling with this, but my math mind has made charts of what goes with what and I should be able to wean things down! Keep an eye out for my final picks!

Kendyl (my daughter who will be 21 next week) and I had a mother-daughter spa day today and got our nails, toenails and brows done! We haven’t done that in years!! It was a wonderful time!

I cannot believe that ONE WEEK from RIGHT NOW, I will be on my way to Paris! The culmination of 4 years of dreaming!

Updated Logo–What Do You Think?

So, I felt my logo needed to be more “square”, so Haley made some adjustments and came up with this:

What do you think? Do you like it better than the original version? I would love to hear your opinions!

T-minus-9 days until we leave! In the meantime we will be celebrating my daughter Kendyl’s 21st birthday!

Adventures in Packing

It is time to start narrowing down my wardrobe choices for our trip to Europe in less than 2 weeks! Some of my friends think I’m crazy to do this carryon only but I am determined to do so!

I have taken pictures of the items I WANT to take but I plan to remove at least one top and possibly the violet blazer. And I may change up the shoes a bit. I just got the white shoes and they might not be broken in by then. We shall see. Stay tuned!

I figure with 4 bottoms and 7 tops I will have more than enough outfits! Plus my favorite dress! I can also switch things up with a blazer and/or a scarf!

So what do you all think? Any suggestions or ideas? How do YOU pick your travel wardrobe?

My New Logo

Ok I need opinions and feedback. My wonderful and talented step-daughter Haley has designed me a logo. I would love some feedback on it before I put it up as my logo on my site. What do you think?

OK, so what do you think?? Give me your feedback! Thanks in advance!!

Preparing For Our Trip

T-minus-17 days until we leave! On May 9, my oldest son, Seth, and I will be flying to Paris to begin our European Adventure! We will be visiting Paris, London, The West Midlands (we have family there), and Dublin over the course of 18 days! Over the past 3 years I have been gathering points via various credit cards in preparation for this trip. We are waiting to hear from British Airways as to whether we will be able to upgrade our trans-Atlantic flights for more comfort. Fingers crossed!

Our travel agent, Rick Strong of Results! Travel has been invaluable in arranging everything, including airport transfers, skip the line passes for major attractions, hotels, air and trains. I have been using Visit A City, a wonderful website recommended by my friend Kathy, to plan our sightseeing. I always like to leave at least one day for spontaneous adventures in each destination. Stay tuned for pictures and reports of our escapades, and especially the delicious food and wine we will experience!

We both plan to travel carry-on only, so I am now in the process of deciding on my travel wardrobe. Everything needs to go with everything else to expand my options. I’ve always traveled this way, but never for this long a period of time! Check back for pictures of my final packing to see if I make it!

Thanks for checking in and keep stopping back, especially as we get closer to our trip! A bientot!

Welcome to My Blog!

Hello World!

My name is Coleen and I would like to welcome you to my new website and blog! As I reach the end of my medical career, I have been considering what I would like to do in retirement. Travel is a given, but I am the type of person who can’t just travel without a specific purpose. After considering several options, I have decided to become a Travel Writer. My retirement from Medicine is still a decade or so away, but I plan to get my feet wet in travel writing through this blog while I learn the ins and outs of my new “twilight” career. A huge shout out to Great Escape Publishing for their home study course. I can’t wait to attend their Travel Writing Conference in Austin, TX this September!

I am still working full-time, but I travel as often as I can–usually 4 times a year, sometimes more. I plan to blog about these trips, as well as preparations for trips, how to pack efficiently, and my culinary adventures both locally and abroad. I hope that you enjoy this site and I welcome comments and feedback, as well as suggestions for topics or areas of improvement. This is my first official website, though I’ve blogged on other platforms before, so there is a bit of a learning curve with figuring things out. Hopefully, by the time I am ready to blog about my trip to Europe next month, I will have it down pat!

Bienvenue! Enchante!
